What to Expect from a Piano Lesson at Fantasia School of Music 🎹

Learning piano is an exciting journey, and no two lessons are ever exactly alike. Still, here’s a glimpse of what you can expect in a typical piano lesson at Fantasia School of Music.

ree

Technique & Warm-ups – Scale books, fingering exercises, and simple drills to build speed, strength, and coordination.

Method & Repertoire Books – Step-by-step progress through lesson books, plus repertoire collections for classical, pop, and seasonal favorites.

Sheet Music & Supplementary Songs – Several pieces are chosen throughout the year to match your level and interests.

Music Theory & Note Reading – From fun note-speller books to structured theory (and optional theory tests), you’ll build a strong foundation.

Creativity & Musicianship – Sight-reading, ear training, and even a bit of improvisation keep things fresh and fun.

Our Teaching Style

Our piano teachers bring both skill and personality to every lesson. Whether you dream of playing Bach, E-Rush, or your favorite movie soundtrack, your teacher will combine core fundamentals—sight-reading, technique, theory—with the music you love most.

Lessons are tailored to your level:

  • Beginners start by learning note names, rhythm basics, and simple one-hand songs before moving on to two-hand coordination.

  • Intermediate and advanced students progress into more complex repertoire, advanced technique, and expressive playing.

Getting Started at Home

Worried you don’t have a piano yet? Don’t stress! For the first 6-12 months, a simple full-size electronic keyboard is all you need. Many students begin with an affordable rental or purchase. We recommend choosing a keyboard with:

  • Regular-sized keys

  • Weighted keys (to mimic a real piano feel)

  • Touch sensitivity (so soft playing sounds quiet, and stronger playing sounds louder)

This setup gives you everything you need to begin your piano journey confidently.

✨ At Fantasia School of Music, we believe piano should be both structured and joyful. Every lesson is designed to help you grow while keeping music fun and meaningful.
